Clinical Pilates
What is Clinical Pilates?
Clinical Pilates is a system of exercises conducted by a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy that integrates the traditional Pilates Method with an evidence-based approach to musculoskeletal dysfunction. Clinical Pilates also helps with neuromuscular re-education, core strength, flexibility, and mobility.
Neuromuscular re-education is a technique used by Physical Therapists to restore normal body movement patterns. Your nerves and muscles work together in producing movement by sending signals between your muscles and your brain about where, when, and how fast to move.
The plan of care for Clinical Pilates is designed after a thorough initial evaluation and is specific to individual goals, fitness level, and current condition/diagnosis.

Our unique style of treatment is focused on non-traditional approach to physical therapy and Pilates. We use top of the line STOTT Pilates Reformer Plus’ equipment for our Clinical Pilates sessions where our veteran physical therapists are giving the entire dedicated one on one, hour long session. It is a safe and very effective method that promotes central “core” control to enhance peripheral “limbs” activity and helps in spinal injury management. Aside from its high effectiveness, it is also a fun and engaging way towards better health and wellness.
Evidence-based literature:
“Effects of pilates on patients with chronic non-specific low back pain: a systematic review. Conclusion: In patients with chronic low back pain, Pilates showed significant improvement in pain relief and functional enhancement. Other exercises showed effects similar to those of Pilates, if waist or torso movement was included and the exercises were performed for 20 cumulative hours.”
